Whispered to the Void

I watched them fall, onto the ground
Steel met steel — no mercy found
The swords crashed, blood spilled abound
Echoes scream without a sound

This war will surely pave away
All the lives we threw to fate
Till victors announce the figure they slay
Another name carved in decay


Marching hearts now stripped of fear
Faith dissolved in smoke and fear
Prayers rot upon the wind
As the end draws ever near


Under skies of fire and ash
We bleed for crowns that never last
No gods remain to hear our cries
Only death beneath dead skies


The moonless night had its devotions
Whispered vows in darkened oceans
Dawn breaks in with doomed emotions
Hope drowns slow in crimson motions

War cries pierce the blazing skies
Calling souls to sacrifice
Step by step toward their demise
Bound by oath — no choice but die


Drums of ruin shake the land
Flesh and bone obey command
History is writ in pain
Was this loss ever worth the gain?

When silence claims the battlefield
Nothing won — nothing healed
Just ghosts who march through endless night
Still fighting wars with no one left to fight
